ATNatureza participated at the second edition of the Festival Ciência Viva do Vale do Côa, together with Agência Ciência Viva and Plataforma de Ciência Aberta. The 17th and 18th October, the Festival took place in the Mercado Municipal of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo. This initiative included several activities that invited school children of all ages to find out about science. Groups of students and other visitors had the chance to learn about different local and national NGO's and ATNatureza in particular, by visiting our stand, joining our workshops and meeting our biologists and staff.

We had a good reception of the public, reinforced our staff skills in communication, presented some of our actions in LIFE RUPIS and add new seedlings to our tree nursery. One of our LIFE RUPIS partners (SPEA)  was also briefly presented by our staff.

To celebrate World Animal Day we share the story of “JUNÇA FAVA BRAVA” a 2-year-old mare with a hind leg injury. After a quick intervention from the ATNature field  workers team the veterinarian treated the horse.

“JUNÇA FAVA BRAVA” receives supplementary food and we hope to announce soon that “JUNÇA FAVA BRAVA” is once again in grazing in the park and running freely with its herd.

The presence of large herbivorous  in the Faia Brava Reserve is extremely important because grazing reduces the risk of fire and creates conditions for other species to get their space, promoting Biodiversity.

A group of five griffon vultures has been tagged with GPS transmitters in the Western Iberia rewilding area in northern Portugal. By shedding new light on the birds’ foraging behaviour, the data collected from the transmitters will support the restoration of natural food chains in the area and underpin the continued comeback of this magnificent species.

On January 19th, Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo received, for the first time, the visit of the Portuguese Prime Minister António Costa, who was accompanied by Luís Capoulas, minister for agriculture.

This moment took place in the Cooperative Winery of Castelo Rodrigo, to mark the beginning of Wine Conferences, where the governors undraw a commemorative plaque for the occasion, followed by a visit to the premises, in which a small exhibition fair of local producers was present.

Taking part in this fair was ATNatureza, represented by the president and the technical director, who had the opportunity to exchange some impressions with the governors.

ATNatureza wants to thanks the invitation and opportunity.
